Originally presented at the SID Advanced Display Technologies in Minsk in October 2004. Subsequently, selected papers were chosen for inclusion in the Journal of the SID. The paper provided a useful vehicle for dissemination of EU research in 3D displays carried out in the ATTEST project (IST-2001-34396) and the 3DTV Network of Excellence (IST-511568). ATTEST was an EU-funded project, led by Philips, where the complete 3D TV broadcast chain was covered. Our role in this was to develop a multi-user autostereoscopic display. The 3DTV NoE is an ongoing project comprising around 200 researchers from throughout Europe.en
