Abstract

This double volume forms a detailed analysis of what the author has termed cultural ontology. In volume one interpretations of Mexico are examined, from the 16 century to contemporary culture. This includes exploration of the path to spiritual enlightenment by explorers and travel writers, and a theoretical paradigm drawn from Nietzsche and St John of the Cross. In volume two film is analysed, focusing on the psychology of the observer, including interpretations of 'madness'.
