Abstract

Description

This paper addresses the complex issue of embedding an ethical perspective into systems development. It brings together literature from hitherto unassociated fields of system development and computer ethics as well as the blending of Eastern and Western ethical concepts. The unusual case study of the Urban Population Information Management System in China illustrates the universality of ethics in systems development. This has led to an invited lecture tour to China in April 2006 where Rogerson presented a series of talks at Peking University, Chinese Academy of Social Science, Zhejiang Wanli University and Yunnan University.
