Abstract
This is an introduction of a special issue by the internaitonal journal of Chinese Language and Discourse, in which an overview is presented to discuss recent development of research on Chinese speaking children in the aspects of pragmatic and grammatical functions, picture story book comprehension, mother and child interaction and the impact of mother's education background on communication competence of child.
