The study provides both a conceptual and empirical appraisal of current carer participation and uses innovative methods of carer led research. The study was commissioned by the Social Care Institute for Excellence and will be used to support policy and best practice in carer participation. The study findings were used to inform the Guidance to the Carers (Equal Opportunities) Act 2004.
