Abstract
Quantitative dried blood spot (DBS) analysis was used to investigate if the accurate mass capability (±2ppm m/z) of high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) would provide compound specificity comparable to the multiple reaction monitoring (mrm) approach used with a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer. Dried blood spots are now widely used for microsampling in clinical investigations and in this study the determination of atenolol, caffeine, captopril and dexamethasone in DBS samples was carried out using liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry. Some initial pharmacokinetic results from therapeutic drug monitoring data obtained from the DBS samples is reported.
