Abstract

This Chapter examines the international law framework relating to modern forms of child slavery. It comments on some of the definitional difficulties and points out some helpful developments prompted by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It concludes that the move from generic to child-specific rights have led to the positive construction of measures that go beyond criminalisation but are aimed at providing assistance to exploited children as active right-holders.
