Abstract
The report explores the evidence base for the figure of 125 in the NHS England congenital heart surgery standard which specifies that each surgeon must perform a minimum of 125 procedures per year. The report concludes that decommissioning level one services from the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre on the basis of this figure is ill-advised.
