Abstract
Contemporary Applied Arts presents Colour Theory, a kaleidoscopic selection of exquisite decorative and functional hand-crafted objects to celebrate spring.
A spectrum of colour and style fills the entire gallery and features beautiful pieces from all our represented disciplines to complement and enhance each other.
This is the first in a series of showcases and exhibitions celebrating our 70th anniversary year, in which we focus on the innate harmony between the work of all our maker members and on the non-hierarchical approach of showing remarkable objects of varying materials and styles side by side, which is so characteristic of our multi-disciplinary organisation.
Participating makers include a wide range of our members – Christie Brown, Tanya Gomez, Ashley Howard, Vicky Lindo, Chris Taylor, James and Tilla Waters (ceramics), Graeme Hawes, Stewart Hearn, Lindean Mill, Michael Ruh, Ruth Shelley, Nancy Sutcliffe (glass), Fred Baier, Karen Hansen, Alex Macdonald (furniture), Jane Adam, Joel Degen, Josef Koppmann, Daphne Krinos, Gilly Langton, Jacqueline Mina, Kathie Murphy, Mark Nuell (jewellery), Katja Fox, Rajesh Gogna, Cara Murphy, Rebecca de Quin (metal), Jilly Edwards, Dawn Dupree, Michelle House, Jane Keith, Ptolemy Mann, Jennie Moncur, Angie Parker, Jennifer Shellard, Helen Yardley (textiles), Peter Archer, Malcolm Martin and Gaynor Dowling (wood) among many others.
CAA has championed and promoted excellence in British craft for 70 years. Founded in 1948 and a registered charity since 1967, we are a membership gallery that represents some of the most talented and skilled applied artists working in Britain today.
