Abstract

Ponytail and Locket are two new, original artworks commissioned by Catherine Hemelryk of the NN Contemporary Art gallery, Northampton UK. The works were conceived through research into the relationship between DNA and fibre optics. The Ponytail installation was an immersive experience with two light based sculptural drawings in a dark space. The Locket work spanned the windows of the gallery, treating each pane as a locket containing reflective hair pieces. Visible 24hrs, the windows provided backdrops for the public to interact and offered the opportunity to take portraits and selfies with different hair which were posted on social media.
