Two poems from the early part of the extended sequence 'Jamie's Book of Ingenuity'. The first, 'How to rise', employs conflicting pieces of advice culled from obituaries, tribute, laudatory speeches, etc. The second poem, 'Jamie Dreams' is concerned with the "lost eleven days" when the calendar altered from the Julian to the Gregorian, and with James Watt's uncertainties and imagination in his teenage years.en
The text is already freely available online through the URL and should be followed there. It is a ocurtesy to the editor not to make the work more widely available than through this portal (except if in a REF submission). Over-exposure of the work which is planned as part of a full collection would also impede acceptance of the whole collection.en
