Abstract

Microprocessor based instrumentation can be placed in two groups: either the instrument is intended for mass production, or its one of a small production batch of between 1 and 100 units. The project planning of the development of any microprocessor-based instrument is primarily determined by the category to which the final product belongs.

Description

This is one of a series of papers produced by Sira in the late 1970's and early 1980's as part of the Microprocessor Applications Project (MAP), funded by the DTI. Its purpose was to raise awareness of microelectronics and to support the development of new products that used this emerging technology. Sira received a substantial grant to participate in the MAP programme, and as part of the outputs organised and participated in a number of conferences aimed at industry.
