Abstract
Description
‘Shift’ is a work-in-progress performance, which was developed over a 5-day residency at LPAC (Lincoln Performing Arts Centre). Using methodologies developed during the author's PhD PaR this piece explores the subtle shifts between live performance, digital projection and sound. The delicate and often complex relationships between live and digital dance provided an interesting counterpoint for the artists to try and explore emerging material in the moment of performance. Shift therefore arrives from the dancers’ engagement with live captured loops of themselves dancing, which is projected back into the space at different intervals. Using scores and improvised structures the performers move through a series of sketches, aiming to explore a more symbiotic relationship between live and digital performance.
