dc.description | This jointly written article extends the analysis in (3) below and was written with social work students, educators and employers in mind. It argues that for professional social workers to be capable of acting independently and autonomously, social work educators must ensure the training fosters good judgement and creativity. This critical message is important in the current target-led environment. Social workers and probation officers are trained to a rigorous standard and we should state why the nature of their work requires this – and always will. Students are enthusiastic about its message and will take this into the work place. | en |
