Abstract

Description

This work was part of an EU collaborative project in which DMU was the leading partner and coordinator. Comprehensive academic research on flax fibres obtained from innovative stand-retted crops was carried out. Knowledge of the lignin content at different stages of crop maturity and fibre characteristics is highly valuable for the development of high quality cottonised fibres. These outcomes established the foundation of TEAM’s current research of bast fibres including innovative enzymatic-retting methods which are increasingly generating interest in Europe. Shen also published another two papers on enzymatic preparation of flax from stand-retted crops in JOTI 2006 and AATCC-Review 2005.
