In a recent work, we proposed a method for unequal error protection with Luby Transform codes and showed that it achieves lower bit error rates than a state of the art technique when the information symbols are partitioned into two protection levels (most important and least important). In this paper, we apply our previous work to the problem of video multicast with heterogeneous receivers. We provide simulations for the scalable video coding (SVC) extension of the H.264/AVC standard and show that our unequal error protection method provides significantly better objective video quality results than two state of the art techniques in applications where a high video quality is desired.en
