Abstract

Description

This paper demonstrates academic research into enzyme modification of international significance. The successful outcome of the work represented a breakthrough in biotechnology and its potential for application in the textile industry. The theory of the new approach has been successfully demonstrated on a laboratory scale and will have huge impact on the textile and enzyme industries as well as the environment. Based on this work, production of modified enzymes has been carried out with industrial companies on a commercial scale. Shen coordinated this EU funded project (PROTEX) under FP6 Growth. Shen also published another two papers in Biotechnology Letters, 2006.
