There are many aspects of corporate social responsibility which become manifest in different ways in different environments but human rights remains one of the 3 most important aspects. This paper commences with a review of this field and of the importance of human rights in the corporate environment before developing into a consideration of the aspects of disability which are affected by corporate social responsibility. Attention is focused primarily upon intellectual disability which is often treated as an invisible topic and eliminated from the discourse and from any consideration in corporate strategy. In this paper we explore this subject and argue that the benefits of incorporating a concern for intellectual disability into corporate planning outweigh the disadvantages, not just in human capital and social terms but also in financial terms. Furthermore we argue that incorporating this into corporate planning is essential in order to develop any sustainable business.en
