This article appears in an edited and refereed volume consisting of the best papers selected from the annual conference of the Social Policy Association. The paper is concerned with the production and dissemination of policy ideas surrounding the restructuring of the relationship between state and capital. Its originality lies in its comparative examination of the principal health policy proposals developed across key UK think-tanks during New Labour’s period in office. Using reports and discussion papers as data, the analysis contributes to an understanding of an area which has until now received limited research interest.en
