Abstract
New legislation is proposed to reduce "online harms", for example on social media. This includes the idea of a "duty of care" for online platforms. I propose to consider the existing GDPR and its requirement to do data protection impact assessments for any data processing that affects people's rights and freedoms as a starting point.
