Abstract
This article charts the social and geographical spaces of science photography exhibitions from William Henry Fox Talbot's first exhibition at the Royal Institution to the Photographic Society of America's activities in the 1930s. Rather than giving a catalogue of places and names the article is intended as an introduction to the possible meaning and function of science photography exhibitions that have led them slowly but inexorably into the art gallery.
