Abstract

This chapter examines the resistance to regimes of austerity in Catalonia, and the form taken by conflicts with state power in two historical periods - 1936/7 and 2017. The chapter is based on historical research and on a number of visits to Barcelona during the 'Catalan crisis' of 2017.
