Description
This paper demonstrates the international collaboration of the researcher in an EU framework 5 programme for the construction of a unique prototyping platform for tremor assessment. Spacer fabrics were engineered as the support structure of a novel ambulatory orthosis whilst maintaining comfort which could not be achieved with 2D fabrics or other materials currently used in supports. New design, system integration, activation and feedback mechanisms were all incorporated. The consortium has together patented one of the two concepts, initially in Spain, to enhance quality of life. One partner has also produced their own patent for a viscous beam actuator.
