The paper’s core thesis is also developed in chapters by Ward in both editions of Adams et al, ‘Social Work: Themes, Issues and Critical Debates’ (1998 & 2002) from where it is frequently cited as providing an original and critical perspective on contemporary developments in the practice of groupwork.
