Item Open Access NFC based provisioning of instructional videos to assist with instrumental activities of daily living(IEEE, 2014-11-06) Rafferty, Joseph; Nugent, Chris; Chen, Liming; Qi, Jun; Dutton, Rachael; Zirk, Anna; Boye, Lars Thomas; Kohn, Michael; Hellman, RittaExisting assistive living and prompting based solutions have adopted a relatively complex approach to supporting individuals. These solutions have involved sensor based monitoring, activity recognition and assistance provisioning. Traditionally they have suffered from a number of issues rooted in scalability and performance levels associated with the activity recognition process. This paper introduces a simplistic approach to assistive living within a user's residence through the use of NFC tags and smart devices. The core concept of this approach is presented and is subsequently placed within the context of related work. A description of the architecture is provided and results following technical evaluation of the first system prototype are discussed.Item Embargo Towards Evidence-Based Self-Management for Spondyloarthritis Patients(GLOBAL HEALTH 2016 : The Fifth International Conference on Global Health Challenges, 2016-10-09) Leister, Wolfgang; Fongen, Camilla; Soldal, Dag; Hagen, Kåre Birger; Schulz, Trenton; Bai, Aleksander; Chen, Liming; Franke, Carl-Henrik; Tjostheim, Ingvar; Boye, Lars Thomas; Berre, Vebjørn; Østerås, Nina; Hagfors, Jon; Halvard Relbe-Moe, Jan; Dagfinrud, HanneWe developed a concept including a set of tools for self-management for patients suffering from axial spondy-loarthritis (SpA). This concept involves patient-recorded outcome measures, both subjective assessment and clinical measurements, that are used to present recommendations. We report from experiences made while implementing a proof of this concept.Besides giving the patient a self-management tool, our work also improved the methodology for clinical measurements.
