Flusser began organizing his thoughts regarding chance, the process by which different elements fall together and are grouped, from reading Jacques Monod’s book “Chance and necessity”. Monod, a biologist, sought to prove that the theories dealing with the evolution of beings as being a process governed by an initial guiding force are completely false, and began to consider the evolutionary processes as flukes within a universe ruled by entropy, the second law of thermodynamics.
