Abstract

This book is designed to support those qualifying in youth work to feel confident to manage as well as deliver youth work. It equips the reader with the understanding and skills to take charge of their own work, taking into consideration their values, their relationship with their immediate environment and what they can control and influence. It then progresses outwards in the direction of government policy and its implications. At each step outwards the worker/manager is enabled to develop an understanding of this widening complex world; their responsibilities, position and power; how their work and that of those they manage is judged; how they can extend their influence; and what they can achieve. It includes a focus on networking, partnership work and commissioning.
