Abstract

Online workshop hosted by Sense about Science focusing on Quality and Peer Review. Expert Panel included a publisher, an editor, and a peer-reviewer who discussed their experiences and advice relating to peer review process and how to ensure rigour and quality through this. Each speaker discussed their perspectives, followed by a 1-hour Q+A open discussion.

Description

I was the "peer reviewer" on the panel. The session was hosted by Sense About Science's Voice of Young Science group, which aims to improve the quality of evidence and also how it is communicated to the public. The aim of the conference, and the panel session, was to provide support and advice to younger/newer scientists and researchers (e.g. Masters, PhD, and Post-Doc level) on this. My role was to advise on how to get involved in peer review (opportunities and pitfalls), how to approach the actual peer review, and how to build confidence in peer review.
