| dc.description.abstract | This paper examines the influence of the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) on the movement for democratic reform in the UK, drawing on a study of the impact of Trust grants to three beneficiaries. The paper demonstrates that charitable foundations can exercise political influence, particularly when a political party is looking for new ideas, like the Labour Party in the early to mid 1990s.
