dc.description.abstract | For the Anarchy and Beauty exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London, Dirty Electronics will create a series of printed artwork circuit boards inspired by the work of William Morris. The unique etched patterns of each board will become part of a generative sound circuit, whilst the designs will also be used to produce light stencils for illuminating the space and accentuating the rhythmic patterns generated by the sound circuit. The artwork for the circuit boards also draws on the work of sixteenth-century botanist, John Gerarde and The Herball or Generall Historie of Plantes. The piece explores the tension between the 'hand-made' and industrial processes in the creation of an artwork. | en |
